3 Ways to Elevate Everyday Outfits
Hello friends!
One of the biggest reasons I love fashion and style is because it’s one of the biggest forms of self-expression and creativity. It’s a chance to step outside your comfort zone in small and practical ways or elevate your signature look by mixing colors, textures, fabrics, etc. I recently filmed a ‘What I Wore This Week’ video sharing outfit inspiration for everyday living and detailing practical tips to elevate looks through accessories, mixing textures, colors and so much more. I encourage you to watch the full video but for this post, I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite outfits from that week and the ways to amplify your look in small and big ways. So, let’s get into it…
MONOCHROMATIC LOOKS WITH COLOR & TEXTURE
The easiest way to make your outfit look polished, elevated without feeling like you have to pull many pieces or buy a lot of items — lean into matching sets. Matching sets keep a look put together and it’s an easy way to get your cost per wear. How so? You can mix & match your 2-piece set or wear it as is.
For this outfit, I wanted to play up the look by adding a pop of color that compliments the main color, brown, which is why I added the pop of green with the hat.
To make the outfit more interesting, I wanted to play up the brown by adding in texture with the suede slouchy bag from the GAP. This was by far, one of the best bags I purchased in 2024 because the suede fabric creates dimension in texture and brown, for me, is a neutral color, so I can pull for this bag any time of the year — and with a huge selection of colors.
To round out this outfit, I kept with monochromatic theme by grabbing my NIKE low dunk twist sneakers in brown which was a nice way to complete the look.

ACCESSORIES CAN BE YOUR BEST FRIEND
If you’re like me, I love a look that involves a trouser pant. I think it makes any ‘basic’ outfit feel elevated, elegant and polished. To keep the look casual, I always reach for a dad hat, my favorite jewelry pieces — think dainty pieces but a layered look — but when you look at the full picture, it comes together quite nicely.
Pairing trousers with items like sweatshirts also makes the look feel cozy and comfy without feeling boring. This specific sweatshirt is from the brand, God Bless the Creative and I highly encourage you to shop & support. We love Black owned brands on this side of the internet and you should too. :)
With this look. I kept the color way pretty simple: navy blue and cream. It’s a easy color palette to follow and to add in some other colors, I added the dimension of the Gap suede bag, which to me, was a great choice for a the errands I needed to run, but supported the color palette that I was leaning into that day.
To add in some fun, I also pulled for this clear glasses with the gold frame that would keep the look funky and edgy without overdoing it. Leave me a comment on your thoughts, because I would love to hear from you!

WHEN IN DOUBT, GRAB YOUR BLAZER
I don’t know if I can convey it enough how much I love blazers. They are beautiful. They are perfect. They, to me, are comfort. Whenever I don’t know what to wear — and usually if I’m low on time — I grab a blazer. Blazers are wonderful picks for the girl that wants to look and feel put together, even on your worst day. It’s a quick and very easy grab for the busy girl or the woman that wants to build their wardrobe in a cost effective way. One of my favorite blazers, is the oversized blazer from H&M — it’s Black (a perfect neutral), oversized and can be styled up or down.
I love pairing blazers with jeans and a simple t-shirt, but you can think beyond jeans. Try it with a skirt or dress, mix and match it with lounge wear and leisure looks. How would you style blazers? I’d love to know.
